It is a unique member that you can add to your squad using which you can completely change your squad’s strength if you unlock and train it properly. The Overlord Gorilla is like an addon that has excellent passive boosts and combat skills that can significantly help you to win difficult battles. However, to do that you will need careful planning, good resource management and strategic upgrades.

Overlord Gorilla Overview

The Overlord Gorilla is a special extra unit in Last War: Survival that boosts your squad’s overall power. It is not treated like a standard hero but rather as an auxiliary unit that provides passive stat boosts as well as a set of combat skills when you fully activate it. When you add it to your squad your squad becomes way more effective in the battlefield. When you first take a look at the stats then you might think that this boost is very significant. You won't find that kind of return anywhere else without spending money. He's a permanent squad member who rewards consistency over credit card swipes.

For spenders, the value depends on your goals. If you need immediate power for SVS finals or competitive events, week-one unlock is absolutely achievable. But don't expect him to be a magic win button,throwing money at the Gorilla without understanding his role as a damage sponge will leave you disappointed.

How to Unlock the Overlord Gorilla

Activation Event

The journey to unlocking the Overlord Gorilla begins in Season 2 of the game. Earlier it used to begin on Day 96 but after a recent update it now begins on Day 89 on most servers. When you start this event you will see a radar-style mission chain that introduces the Gorilla in an injured state in the field. You must complete this event if you want to train the Gorilla or add it to your squad.

Rescue Mission Details

The rescue mission lasts for 4 days in-game. Each day you have to provide supplies like water, food and medicine. You can collect these items by completing specific radar missions or by interacting with the baby gorilla. Every day you get some progress points. On Day 1 you get 50/150, on Day 2 you get 90/150, on Day 3 you get 130/150 and finally on Day 4 you get 150/150. When this recovery meter reaches 150 the Overlord system will be unlocked in your base. At this point you will see many new interfaces and activities will appear for ongoing progression:

• Overlord Base: This is where you can train and promote your Gorilla.
• Tactical Institute: You can get Training Guidebooks from here that you can use to train your Gorilla.
• Overlord Truck Missions: By completing these missions you will get different materials as rewards which you can use to train and promote the Gorilla.

 

Training and Progression

After you unlock these systems you have to now deploy it. To do that you have to complete some activities and reach Promotion Rating “Rookie Partner I”. This is the minimum rank that you will need to deploy the Gorilla in your squad.

Specialized Training System

In the Overlord Base you will see 3 specialized training lines. Each line focuses on a core area of development and you have to level these equally to promote your Gorilla efficiently.

• Joint Attack - This training increases the attack output for both the Gorilla and your squad.
• Defense Support - This training improves the Gorilla’s defensive stats and helps it to survive longer in battles.
• Survival Training - This training increases the Gorilla’s HP and makes it more durable in battles.

For training you will need 2 important resources:

• Training Guidebooks - This is mainly used to level training lines.
• Training Certificates - You will need these to unlock specific training milestones and levels.

Bond Rating and Promotion

The Overlord Gorilla’s bond rating tells you how much ready it is to be deployed in your squad for battles. But before you can even deploy it in your squad you have to go through a series of progression events.

Promotion Path

The bond rating progresses in the following order:

1. No Rating - This is the starting point when you have just unlocked the Gorilla.
2. New Partner I to New Partner X - You have to advance through these tiers by leveling up in the 3 training lines.
3. Rookie Partner I - When you get to this milestone you can finally deploy the Gorilla.

For each bond promotion level, you will need a certain number of Bond Badges. You can collect them from various in-game sources like Alliance Stores, Campaign Stores, VIP Stores and Overlord events.

Training Checkpoints

Let us look at how you can actually unlock the different tiers of bond rating:

• First you have to reach Level 50 in all 3 specialized training lines. This will upgrade your rating from No Rating to New Partner I.
• As you keep leveling the training lines you unlock different tiers of New Partner until you reach New Partner X.
• Finally, you have to reach Level 100 in all 3 training lines. By doing this you will move from New Partner X to Rookie Partner I and then be able to deploy the Gorilla.

You will need total 300K Training Guidebooks, 1800 Training Certificates and 24 Bond Badges to reach the Promotion Rating Rookie Partner I. If you try to reach this milestone for free then you will need many weeks or even months. However, you can opt for in-game purchases and battle pass to reduce some time. After you reach Rookie Partner I you will unlock the Gorilla’s full combat skill set and you can assign it to your squad.

 

Overlord Skills and Abilities

After you deploy the Gorilla you will get access to various skills that influence both offensive and defensive capabilities. You can level these skills using Skill Badges that you can get by completing Overlord missions and store activities. However all skills are not of the same value. Follow this skill priority for maximum efficiency:

• Brutal Roar. This should be your top priority because it provides a crucial debuff to enemy critical hits.
• Overlord’s Armor. It improves durability and survivability.
• Furious Hunt. It increases damage potential.
• Riot Shot. You will unlock it very early but it does not have much impact.
• Expert Overlord. You will be able to unlock it only at higher experience levels.

You have to manage your Skill Badges effectively so that the Gorilla’s abilities contribute meaningfully to your squad and not just increase the stats.

For free-to-play players, unlocking the Gorilla is absolutely achievable:it just takes patience. One dedicated F2P commander in our community documented their journey: roughly 98 days of consistent play from introduction to deployment, with their squad power jumping from 30.3 million to 33.04 million after adding the gorilla. That's a massive spike for zero dollars spent. The key requirements are HQ level 27 or higher, plus diligent resource gathering from the Alliance Store, Campaign Store, VIP Store, and the free track of the Overlord Pass whenever available. Don't forget to check the Black Market regularly and complete the Overlord Growth Boost event for free materials.

For spenders who want that gorilla now, here's what it takes to unlock and assign within week one. You'll need to grab all gorilla materials from VIP, Alliance, and Campaign stores, complete the Overlord Growth Boost event, purchase the Overlord Training Battle Pass, buy all Training Certificate Packs and the Bond Badge Pack from the Weekly Deal, and finally purchase every tier of the Overlord Training Special Offer Packs as they appear. Total cost for me was around £450, though I saved 35% by using SkyCastle. Either path you choose, the destination is the same—just remember to save your upgrade materials until Friday for maximum Alliance Duel points.
