Varesa is a DPS excels in dealing Plunging Attack DMG and she is one of the best F2P character in Genshin Impact.

Varesa is a character who revolves around her Plunging Attacks and also filling up her Nightsoul bar to enter a special state called Fiery Passion, enabling her attacks to do more damage. 

Varesa Rotation

Varesa's kit is actually quite complicated and very confusing on paper, but quite simple in practice. Her play style revolves around looping through a series of inputs to output a lot of plunge damage. 

A = Normal Attack, C = Charged Attack, P= Plunging Attack, E = Elemental Skill, Q = Elemental Burst

At C0, Varesa can unleash three runs of ECAP ECAPQ. In the first ECAP, you use E to gain points and enable a faster Charged Attack follow-up, then you plunge to cap Nightsoul and enter Fiery Passion, where her multipliers get better and she gets a special “rebate skill.”

From there, the second part (ECAPQ) is basically using that rebate skill to quickly set up another plunge, consuming your points in Fiery Passion, briefly gaining Apex Drive, and then cashing that in to fire the mini Q—then you’re back to square one and can just loop it again.

Each ECAP ECAPQ loop takes around four to five seconds and you’ll usually do about two to three of them per rotation.

A big trick is that you can swap Varesa off after the first ECAP and she’ll keep Fiery Passion for up to 15 seconds even while off-field, which makes it super convenient to do all your support stuff and then swap back in to resume from ECAPQ.

Plunging Attacks, Charged Attacks, or Elemental Skills can each trigger this effect once every 1s. Radiance Everlasting: Plunging Attacks deal 15% increased DMG for 6s. Max 5 stacks. Each stack's duration is counted independently.

Long Night’s Oath is presented as her general best-in-slot, stacking a huge amount of plunge damage and being especially strong when you’re not drowning in external buffs.

2-Pc: While the equipping character is in Nightsoul's Blessing and is on the field, their DMG dealt is increased by 15%.

4-Pc: After the equipping character consumes 1 Nightsoul point while on the field, CRIT Rate increases by 40% for 6s. This effect can trigger once every second.

Obsidian Codex is also very good, mainly in full-team scenarios, because it can give a massive CRIT Rate buff after you consume Nightsoul points; there’s even a little tech where briefly holding E consumes a couple points to trigger the CRIT buff and make it almost permanent (except for the very first hit).

The tradeoff is that Obsidian is noticeably weaker for solo play compared to Long Night’s Oath, but in buff-saturated teams it gets very close, so if you already own a cracked Codex set, it can be totally reasonable to skip farming the Oath set.

Talents Priority

As a main DPS, Varessa’s damage output heavily relies on her Elemental Burst, particularly her special ability, "Dazzling Descent:Volcanic Collapes." To fully unlock her potential, prioritizing the upgrade of her Elemental Burst is essential.

Beside, since Varessa excels in plunging attacks, leveling up her Normal Attacks is equally important to ensure consistent damage during combat. On the other hand, her Elemental Skill, while useful, plays a less critical role and can be upgraded last.

C1: makes her A1 passive always give 50% damage bonus to our plunges rather than alternate between 25% and 50%. In addition, it gives Varesa 25% attack when she enters the Fiery Passion state and increases the duration of her overall Mobility.

Choose C1 first. This is not only for damage but for the exploration quality-of-life—less stamina consumption and absurd movement speed turning her into a sprinting monster

C2: Varesa will enter Apex Drive after using a Plunging Attack regardless of whether she is in the Fiery Passion state or not. When Apex Drive is active, Varesa's interruption resistance will also further increase. Additionally, Varesa will restore 11.5 Energy when her Plunging Attack ground impact hits a nopponent. 

C4: Receives various buffs based on her state when using her Elemental Burst A Dazzling Descent!

C6: Varesa restores 30 Energy when she enters Apex Drive,Her Plunging Attacks and Elemental Burst A Dazzling Descent! gain 10% CRIT Rate and 100% CRIT DMG.

Recommendation: C1 and C2 are Varessa’s core constellations, significantly boosting both her damage output and survivability. As a result, prioritizing either C1 or C2 is highly recommended.
