Tangtang feels more like a high-impact Cryo sub-DPS who brings real AoE pressure, strong utility, and better team setup all at once. Instead of being a unit that only cares about personal damage, Tangtang stands out by helping Cryo-focused teams play smoother and hit harder when it matters. She offers consistent Cryo application, solid crowd-control value, and enough personal damage to stay relevant without needing to hog the whole rotation. That makes her especially appealing in comps that want stronger setup, cleaner burst windows, and less messy fights overall.

If your team already leans Cryo or benefits from extra control and support, Tangtang looks like the kind of unit that can raise the floor and ceiling at the same time.

This is the part of the kit you level last. Yes, it still matters because Tangtang can stay on field for a bit and her kit includes a dive attack interaction during Ultimate, but nothing in the currently documented kit suggests her basic chain is where most of her value comes from. Tangtang lives and dies by her skill engine, not by raw normal-hit spam.

Battle Skill – IMA WAVERIDAAH

This is the real money button. It creates Waterspouts, applies Cryo Infliction, and when it consumes nearby Whirlpools it also lets those Waterspouts apply Arts Susceptibility. Consuming Whirlpools through the Battle Skill returns some SP, which is a big reason this button looks like the core of her loop instead of just “one damage skill among many.” If you are investing in Tangtang, this is the first skill I’d push.

Combo Skill – RIVER, TO ME!

This is the engine starter. The Combo Skill creates the Whirlpools that the rest of Tangtang’s kit wants to eat, and its trigger condition is pretty friendly: apply Cryo Infliction or deal Arts Burst damage. That is why Tangtang already looks naturally comfy in Cryo and Arts-heavy comps. I wouldn’t level this before Battle Skill, but I absolutely would not neglect it either, because no Whirlpools means no fun.

Ultimate – DA CHIEF SEES YOU!

Ultimate – DA CHIEF SEES YOU!

This is the other premium button. Official 1.1 notes say it immobilizes all enemies in range, including bosses, and current build pages show that it also ends with a big wave hit. On top of that, if the controlled operator performs a dive attack inside the field, the state ends early and the effects get enhanced.

In practice, that makes Tangtang’s Ultimate both a damage tool and a tempo-control tool, which is honestly a huge deal in Endfield. For a pre-release priority order, I’d put it just behind Battle Skill or at worst tied with it depending on how much your comp values the freeze-window utility.

My current leveling order is:

Battle Skill > Ultimate > Combo Skill > Basic Attack

That order could shift slightly once live-frame data is out, but right now it matches the public kit logic best

 

Talents

Riot Bringer should be prioritized first. For Tangtang specifically, her damage pattern already wants Combo Skill into Battle Skill to turn Whirlpools into Waterspouts; Riot Bringer upgrades that payoff with extra Waterspouts and a large +40/60% damage boost, while Fam of Honor mainly adds Haste and Slow.

When the wielder applies Cryo Infliction via battle skills or ultimates, the wielder gains Cryo DMG Dealt +32% for 20s.

When the wielder's battle skill or ultimate applies Arts Susceptibility, the target enemy suffers Arts DMG Taken +9.6% for 20s. The two effects apply separately and do not stack with themselves.

Brigand’s Calling is great on Tangtang because it turns her normal rotation into a much stronger payoff window. It boosts the value of the things she already does every fight—setting up Cryo pressure, cashing out her skill turns, and enabling team damage—so she feels sharper as both a sub-DPS and a setup unit.

Home Longing is the best alternative because it fits Tangtang’s real rotation instead of just giving generic stats. It rewards the exact pattern she already wants—using Combo Skill to set up, then cashing out with Battle Skill—so her turns feel smoother and her damage windows stay more consistent. That makes it the cleanest non-signature option for players who skip Brigand’s Calling but still want a weapon that plays naturally with her kit.

OBJ Velocitous is the best budget option because it helps Tangtang do her job more consistently. It gives her steadier uptime, smoother rotations, and more reliable Ultimate access, which matters a lot for her control and team setup.

This setup works because it keeps Tangtang’s strongest damage pattern front and center. Bonekrusha Heavy Armor T2 adds Cryo damage, while double Bonekrusha Mask T2 pushes her Battle Skill much harder, which matters because her rotation naturally sets up with Combo Skill and cashes out through Battle Skill. MI Security Gloves fit well as the off-piece because they add even more Battle Skill value and some extra crit consistency. Altogether, the set gives Tangtang stronger skill turns without pulling her away from her normal sub-DPS role.

This setup is still usable because it keeps the important part of the build intact: three Tide Surge pieces. That preserves the set’s Arts Intensity bonus and its Arts DMG payoff after applying 2+ Arts Infliction stacks, and Cryo Infliction counts as an Arts Infliction in Endfield’s element system. Tangtang already applies Cryo through her normal skill flow, so she can make real use of that set effect. The off-piece Type 50 Yinglung Heavy Armor T1 then adds Ultimate Gain Efficiency, giving her a more rotation-focused, control-friendly version of the build.

 

Potential Recommendation

Tier 1 — P1

For most players, P1 is a perfectly fine stopping point. It helps Tangtang’s rotation feel smoother with the Combo Skill cooldown cut and extra SP coming back when Battle Skill converts Whirlpools into Waterspouts. That is useful, but it feels more like a quality-of-life plus consistency upgrade than a real power spike.

Tier 2 — P3

If you actually want a meaningful dupe target, P3 is the sweet spot. This is where her core loop gets noticeably stronger, because it improves Battle Skill damage again and also boosts the Arts Susceptibility value when she forms multiple Waterspouts. Since Tangtang’s whole kit is built around setting up and cashing out those turns, P3 is the first point that feels like a genuinely big upgrade rather than just “nice to have.”

Tier 3 — P5

For heavy spenders, P5 is the luxury endpoint. It absolutely hits hard, especially for Ultimate-linked burst and Riot Bringer payoff, but it’s very much a whale toy, not the point where the character suddenly starts working.

Yhe logic is pretty clear: Tangtang brings Arts Susceptibility and crowd-control utility, while her Ultimate can create a safer firing window for Yvonne to keep blasting. If Tangtang ends up being even better at stabilizing those windows than expected, this comp could get very annoying in the best possible way.

A more offensive double-DPS option if you want stronger boss pressure. Xaihi still acts as the glue, Tangtang helps create cleaner damage windows with extra Cryo application and utility, while Yvonne adds more single-target punch for elites and bosses.

 

Conclusion

Tangtang looks like one of those Version 1.1 characters people might first pull for style, then keep using because she actually brings value once teams start taking shape. If you like Cryo comps, cleaner setup, and units that can add both pressure and utility without making rotations feel clunky, she’s absolutely worth keeping on your radar when her banner opens in Phase 1 on March 12.
